- links to the individual Profiles / CVs
Please read the whole page at least once the first time you are visiting
us - if you are coming back to the site then you can follow up the link
above directly.
On this page you can list your professional / personal profile / CV totally FREE of charge for up to four months. This site is visited frequently by prospective employers etc.
We usually publish one HTML page plus one photo FREE
for up to four months.
During the setup phase and with the anticipated low demand during the first year or so (until 2002) we will keep ALL profiles / CVs as long as you like WITHOUT ANY CHARGE at all !
If we would have to maintain 500 or 2000 profiles or so it might be a quite a different story to cover the cost for help etc.
The concept of KIWI PROFILES
has been picked up quickly by others - it is actually "mushrooming" in
New Zealand and many want to make a quick buck NOW !
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND :
There is only the ORIGINAL service - and it is FREE for all at:
http://kiwiprofiles.tripod.com
DON'T spend any money (be it as a job seeker or as an employer) to place jobs, CVs on a web site if there is not something really special or an extraordinary service which would justify any fees / expenses.
To give you an example:
Apart from our time (which we are happy to spend voluntarily at this stage) :
WE DON'T HAVE ANY COSTS to store your profile etc. on a server. We can actually put several thousand profiles, CVs onto a server in the USA without even spending one cent ! So we won't charge you with any fees etc. to cover expenses which just don't exist !
We have had so far some hundred visitors - but are fully aware that the concept will take off slowly.
The same is the case with the "newcomers" setting up similar web sites all over the country in 2001 imitating the original concept.
Most imitations will disappear anyway after some months because people are trying to make a living from it (and this from the beginning) - it usually goes terribly wrong !
Because we have NO commercial interests in maintaing this web site we want to encourage you to register with FREE services.
Please be very careful before you even spend ONE dollar for placing your profile / CV on the Internet !
Ask yourself the question :
Why spending $ 10.-- , $ 15.--, $ 20.-- or more per month - esp. when you are looking for a job and need the money - for something which doesn't have any substance and is probably put money down the drain !
You get the same for FREE at our site.
About the Author of this web site ...
So far we have transferred your .doc files etc. to HTML - we might not be in a position to do this anymore because of time constraints. PLEASE - provide us only with HTML files in the form described below.
(See our notes further down what is required to be listed on this site - if you have absolutely NO idea what HTML means and can only save a file as a .doc file with your wordprocessor - then please send us an e-mail to tell us about it and we will see what we can do for you).
One other thing: We appreciate (esp. because we publish your CV free of charge) if you would react within a day or two if we come back to you with questions etc. It is not so, that we are an anonymous place on the web- we are human beings and like the personal contact to all of you. Please keep in mind: if we have questions and if you don't answer to our e-mail we might have to remove your CV / profile from this web site.
Some words regarding an item in the COMPUTERWORLD
December 11, 2000
E-Tales, page 35 - Bring back the phone ... (by
Darren Greenwood) :
See
our answer to this item ...
( See also their report on page 23 in the Computerworld from February 5, 2001 )
There are numerous web sites offering jobs for you. What we are doing here is a NEW approach - allowing YOU to present your skills and experience to the market place in New Zealand (and the world).
There is actually much talk about the market place where offer meets demand - let's be honest: at the labour market this is still a one-sided business (it should actually be the other way around). You as the job seeker should be in a position to sell your services in a competitive market place and the (prospective) employer(s) should be "your customers" buying your services - however the reality and the environment is different; esp. when there is a "middle man" involved. There is some imbalance in this playing field.
So far placing an ad in the paper under "Positon wanted", writing applications, having to deal with agencies, knocking on doors and approaching companies directly - there was not much the job seeker could do to present himself to the market place. Then the Internet came up and you could design your own personalized web page - but then: you have to make it known to the world (like any other company does with their products).
We go a step further and create an open market place where offer meets demand in a fair manner.
[ Yes - it sounds similar to "Trade & Exchange" - we don't deny this ! ]
It is about the direct dialogue between the (prospective) employer and the job seeker. Our web site allows the job seeker to present himself to prospective employers who might be interested in his service(s). It also allows the employer to get in touch with people whose qualifications he needs, study their profiles / CVs (but also have a look at their personal web sites).
This way he gets the best picture possible about the whole personality. This is the NEW approach, a NEW way to win staff and it is totally different from what most Human Resources departments are used to.
It is the 21st century we are living in - the age of the INTERNET !
How does it work for you - the job seeker ...
It is simple: you just send us your profile / CV as an HTML file ( for example: myprofile.html ) attached to an e-mail (plus - if you want - a picture in .JPG format) and we will list it below as a linked page in the category you prefer FREE for up to four months. You can put in this HTML file a link to your own web page where you also can maintain a picture and information which goes beyond the scope of a short profile.
We recommend to use NETSCAPE Composer (part of Communicator) to create your HTML page - get it from:
The HTML file + image size are limited to 20 KB altogether - these are at least five pages A4 plus a decent but compressed passport sized photo. We assume that you have sufficient knowledge to create a HTML page and to scan/compress a photo to a size below 10 KB or so. If not please talk to someone who knows about it or check and try freeware / shareware tools from: http://www.thefreesite.com/ or: http://www.winfiles.com/ or visit our SERVICES Page.
Our FREEWARE page alone is worthwhile to visit - FREE stuff for hundreds of dollars !
The HTML page you provide MUST be in the format: xxYYMMDD.html - your "initials" (xx) plus the date when you have created the file - like: jb001120.html; the photo MUST have the same file name and has to be in the file format with the extension: .jpg - jb001120.jpg.
You can choose the category and the link title (description) - it is also up to you to provide on your page your name and full contact details or a photo. Please don't forget to have at least an e-mail address to contact you !
PLEASE - leave TWO empty lines at the top of your HTML page.
The link title/description should tell what kind of position you are looking for and a local preference.
You can use whatever language you like as long as it can be displayed on a normal monitor. This might be a good idea if you are looking for a position where it is required to speak a foreign language.
We list FREE of charge for up to four months one HTML page you provide us with (max. to the equivalent of five pages A4) plus one .jpg photo in exactly the format and name convention we prescribe.
If you want to keep your listing for longer than four months you have to send us an e-mail two weeks before the link expires. Otherwise we have to remove it (this is to prevent that too many dead links are maintained where people have found a job but not informed us).
Four months should normally be sufficient to enable prospective employers to meet you - and we wish you all success. Depending on the circumstances you might want to keep your profile longer on our web site; we are happy to arrange this - please visit our SERVICES Page for more information.
Example (this is just a sample to demonstrate the purpose - you have to take care of the design of your own profile/CV) :
IT - Computing - Software - Development - Visual Basic ...
And PLEASE - let us know if you have found a job ! It is not only to remove you from our list - we want you to share your story with us ( if our web site has helped you to be successful in finding a position ).
Because we are maintaining this web site in principle FREE of charge a small contribution to our costs is then appreciated - but this is totally up to you. We don't bother you, we don't give your e-mail address away etc. ....
IMPORTANT :
If you cannot create a HTML page you can send us a .PDF file only - see the information below ! However the search facility on this site gives much better results (and you might be discovered) if you provide us with an HTML page.
You can search in English or any other language you like (there might
be profiles in foreign languages on this web site).

About the Author of this web site ...
Great news - esp. for immigrants - a NEW initiative by the Auckland Regional Chamber of Commerce:
They can bring you in contact with prospective
employers !
Advantages for you - the job seeker ...
This project was started in late November 2000. We will make this web site known to the media, prospective employers, employers associations, unions, search engines etc. The web site allows you to make your profile known to the world (plus the extended information from your own web site) at NO charge at all for up to four months.
What makes the difference for YOU is the possible exposure to the people you actually want to reach - turning the ratio from 10 : 1 (or 20 : 1 and more) to the opposite. But this also depends on you; send some e-mails out to friends, companies, organisations you know to make the web site known - this helps not only you but many others too !
You can publish as much information as you like within the 20 KB limit (we recommend to stick with the equivalent of five pages A4). If you need more space then consider to download NETSCAPE Communicator from http://www.netscape.com/ to create your own website and put a link into the HTML page you e-mail to us.
You may have already a web site - but the point is to make it known. A listing on our web site can help.
E-Mail address is at the top of the page.
You have nothing to loose !
By the way: we add your HTML page to our web site but don't keep any copy on our computers to ensure confidentiality. We are also not interested in any of the contents of your profile. We can't deal with employers on your behalf, make recommendations etc. - it really is like "Trade & Exchange". We can only publish your profile - the rest is up to you and prospective employers visiting this web site. Thanks for your understanding.
For the time being we accept additionally your profile in .pdf format (same file size limit) - so everyone can download, distribute and read it with the ADOBE Acrobat Reader. We will list your profile in .pdf format below the .html link. This adds a professional touch to your link. Everyone has the ACROBAT Reader - but how to create a .pdf file ? You need the ACROBAT Software (costs around NZ $ 750.-- - just check it out on the web). I don't have the ACROBAT package either - but I have found a way to create perfect .pdf files - just go to our FREEWARE site; under PDF etc. - approximately in the middle of the page you will find an easy way to create your own .pdf files in minutes. No catch, no gimmicks - it works, it's legal and it is FREE !
Please use the same name convention as for the .html file: xxYYMMDD.pdf
Have a look at my own profile in .pdf format (profile.pdf) - done with the FREE software
All this and much more you will find on our FREEWARE page !
Our
FREEWARE page alone is worthwhile to visit - FREE stuff for hundreds of
dollars !
If you are one of the first people considering to add your profile to this web site in November, December 2000 ...
there might not be many links so far - please DON'T think it is a useless exercise. How often have you applied for a position but were unsuccessful ? Here is your chance to make yourself known to prospective employers without any third parties involved. It is all about the direct approach by prospective employers.
We don't make any empty promises - we are informing prospective employers, employers organisations, unions, the media etc. about the existence of this web site and ask them to bookmark this site. To make it a real success - everyone must help to market this web site to New Zealanders.
If you believe that this web site makes sense
- and not only for you - then please recommend it to others ! Thank you.
Great news - esp. for immigrants - a NEW initiative by the Auckland Regional Chamber of Commerce:
They can bring you in contact with prospective employers !
Advantages for you - the prospective employer ...
You can approach suitable candidates directly - their details are provided in the form of profiles, CVs and often their own web site.
There is also NO charge for accessing this web site - there are absolutely NO hidden costs, fees etc. The authors have NO financial interests in maintaining this web site (apart from cost covering for additional services - see our: SERVICES Page ).
The financial benefit for you as a prospective employer may also be huge (!) - considering the costs / fees for advertising, agencies etc.
About the Author of this web site ...
Our FREEWARE page alone is worthwhile to visit - useful applications worth hundreds of dollars !
At the moment we have NO plans to publish job offers from prospective employers. There are so many web sites offering jobs - we don't want to add another one.
Some of them (in alphabetical order):
www.jobstuff.co.nz
www.jobuniverse.co.nz
www.monster.co.nz
www.myjob.co.nz
www.newzealandjobs.co.nz
www.netcheck.co.nz
www.nzjobs.co.nz
www.seek.co.nz
There are probably some more - we have however no connection to these sites, their authors etc. They might be helpful for you to locate a suitable position and then apply for it. The same is valid for all the agencies which are too numerous to list. You find a selection at the PIPERPAT Link Page at: www.piperpat.co.nz/nz and then look under careers, employment.
Now here is something really NEW !
Great news - esp. for immigrants - a NEW initiative by the Auckland Regional Chamber of Commerce:
They can bring you in contact with prospective
employers !
However, in the interest of an open market place promoting the dialogue between job seekers and employers we intend to publish offers from companies who are visiting our web site frequently and have actually covered their staff demands by employing someone who has published his/her profile on this web site.
Please let us know if you have employed someone who has listed his profile on this web site.
If your company is seriously interested to work together with us then we will publish your job offers in the future. Please contact us in this matter.
[ We will only publish job offers from genuine employers - NO agencies please. ]
We need new approaches how we deal with the labour market - the Internet offers us chances.
We welcome Government departments to contact us and we are willing to help, to re-build / re-design (existing) systems for a more sophisticated labour market in our country - please e-mail us (address is at the top)
Thank you !
This page was created in late November 2000 - it might take some weeks, even months until we have a respective number of profiles on it. It is a NEW approach and it will probably take some time to get used to it.
PLEASE: if you are a prospective employer, an employers organisation or a union - help us to make this web site known; it is there in the interest of all of us !
Some links regarding HR - Human Resources
These pages open a whole new world for job seekers and prospective employers - there is much more to Human Resources than making a "quick buck" !

on the Internet
